Wearable Art:
exhibition

Picture
Wearable Art folk will be staging an exhibition of their wonderful costumes at one of our community venues.
Picture
Strangled in Nylon

Created by Sandra Thompson.

Using recycled Marlin fishing nylon I have woven hand dyed flax with wash up nylon and plastic from our beautiful coastline.

Gannet Adore
Sliding, gliding soaring, peaking
Bait fish seeking
Arching, dipping
Last second tipping
Plunging , gliding
Into a tangle, fish line mangle
Left to dangle
Captured
Non-target species
Can someone help please

Gannet Adore
Will soar no more
In search of her diet
Now she is quiet
Dead quiet.

Wahine i roto i te whero (Woman in Red)

Created by Mayhla Howells

This garment was a finalist in the 2012 Cult Couture show in the Recycled Revolution and was also selected for the Biennial Surface Design Fashion Show in San Antonio Texas in 2013.

It is constructed using recycled plastic and hand dyed chicken and guinea fowl feathers gifted from a South Island bird breeder.
