Anni Veart-Smith:
Mosaics

For as long as I can remember, I have always loved colour and design.

As a child, I’d enjoy many hours colouring with crayons and painting with my paint pots, creating and stitching my imaginative ideas and then setting up a roadside stall to offer my works of art, for sale.

While never making my fortune, I did become quite famous as “that kid that wears those colourful clothes”, as I sat patiently outside the house, beside my little stall.

Now, I have the wonderful opportunity of living Beside The Sea, in Urquharts Bay, Whangarei Heads and what more inspiration can an imaginative mind wish for with the ever-changing coastal outlook , from my studio window.

These days, I create full time and my seaside studio is open for friends and passers by to drop in for a chat, coffee (or wine!) and view my works of art for sale.

From oil paintings, concrete bottle art and mosaics, my imagination is constantly on the run, but it is my love of colour & design that has led me into working with mainly mosaics.

Such a thrill when the final touches are made and another “favourite piece” emerges.
