The Whangarei Heads Arts Trail was the brainchild of the Discover Whangarei Heads Tourism group. The first 'Trail' took place in 2012 and was a huge success, revealing a wealth of local talent working in a wide range of artistic media. In the first year visitor numbers were around 800 but by the second year this number had doubled and we began to see the arrival of more visitors from Auckland and other Northland towns. Each year we look for ways to make the event bigger and better than ever.

Our aim is to help all local artists to bring their work into the public domain and to work together to raise the profile of Whangarei Heads as a centre of Artistic Excellence and an Arts Tourism destination. Each year we invite guest Artists who we believe will bring something new and exciting to the trail to join us.

In 2019 we approached Creative Northland to act as event managers, a relationship we hope will provide continuity and sustainability to the event.

If you are interested in joining us as a local member or as a guest Artist we'd love to hear from you. Please drop us a line and tell us about your work.
